A Rock Museum Like No Other

The Lewis Ranch is unlike any other rock ’n’ roll attraction. It’s an active residence where Jerry Lee Lewis still spends time with his family and friends. Jerry Lee has always seen The Lewis Ranch as his private escape, but now he’s decided to open to the doors to fans. We have created small, intimate tours that take you behind the scenes and into the heart of the Killer’s life—past and present.

History of The Lewis Ranch

Jerry Lee Lewis lived in the Memphis area ever since he first came to Sun Records in 1957. At the time, his father drove him to the city and Jerry Lee stormed right in and demanded a session with Sam Phillips. Once the folks at Sun heard him play, the Killer had a job and a chance to make it big.

It wasn’t until 1973 that Jerry Lee purchased The Lewis Ranch. He had started putting down roots, and he knew that he needed somewhere private to work on his music between tours. He chose The Lewis Ranch because it was secluded from the city, but still only a 20 minute drive from the Memphis clubs he loved to tear up.

Located in Nesbit, Mississippi, The Lewis Ranch has now been home to Jerry Lee’s family for over 40 years. Several Lewis generations have grown up playing on the grounds, often while Jerry Lee was water skiing with fellow rock stars in the lake. Now the Killer uses the ranch as his songwriting retreat, living there for days or weeks at a time and fishing in between jam sessions. Often, he’ll just sit on the back porch and hum a few ideas for his next big hit.

Jerry Lee Lewis bought The Lewis Ranch in the early 1970s. Located just 20 miles outside of Memphis, in sleepy Nesbit, Mississippi, The Lewis Ranch was the young rock star’s home, his retreat, and his rock ‘n’ roll entertaining grounds all rolled into one. He continues to stay there part-time today.

Educational Program

The educational program of the Lewis Ranch focus on a message that kids—and adults—don’t hear enough: how to follow a dream and make it into reality.

Tours of the Lewis Ranch

Tours are available in small groups of 15, held several times daily. We cannot guarantee that guests will meet Jerry Lee Lewis, but tours are typically conducted by his family and he has been known to turn up now and again.
